Yohimbine – natural energy from the dark continent

Yohimbine – What is hidden in the bark of the West African Yohimbe tree?

In the world of sports, it is spoken of as a powerful formula for energy and fat burning. Outside of sports, it is mentioned primarily as an aphrodisiac. The noun here is not randomly selected, but suggests the African origin of the rare alkaloid.

What is yohimbine?

Yohimbe is one of the oldest aphrodisiacs used by the Egyptians. Available on our market in body fat burners or as a separate supplement.

What is its action and what is the attitude of science on the issue?

Its popularity is due not only to its aphrodisiac and hallucinogenic effects, but also to new research showing that it can be an herb with very effective antioxidant potential. Science has also shown that yohimbine increases blood flow to extreme levels. When yohimbe is taken, the body converts it into yohimbine and puts it into the bloodstream. It relaxes the blood vessels and improves the blood supply to the pelvis, but also activates the part of the spine that is responsible for erection.

This makes it especially suitable for patients with psychologically conditioned and stress-induced impotence. The alkaloid yohimbine is derived from the bark of the yohimbe tree, which grows mainly in West Africa and is the main ingredient in yohimbe. Studies conducted in Germany in 1997 showed that 71% of those treated with yohimbine had increased potency.

Who needs it and what are the symptoms of deficiency?

Bodybuilders or athletes who want a separate and detailed abdominal press or just a healthy heart should go for this product. Yohimbe bark is recommended as a tonic and potency enhancer. It is used to treat impotence, bladder atony and menopausal symptoms in men. It is not essential, ie. the body cannot produce it on its own, so yohimbine in the blood cannot be deficient.

Reception and dosage

When buying in the form of a supplement, look for Yohimbine Hydrochloride (Yohimbine HCl). This form is more effective, has fewer side effects and is easier to dose. You can read more about the different forms in the article Yohimbine hydrochloride and yohimbe bark extract. The recommended dose is 0.2 mg / kg, along with caffeine, 30-60 minutes before fasting cardio. If you weigh 70 kg, your dose should be 14 mg yohimbine hydrochloride. If you need to do cardio immediately after strength training, take the dose an hour before the cardio. That is, if your strength training lasts about 40 minutes, then drink yohimbine 20 minutes before it.

It is always taken on an empty stomach, because after a meal the concentration of insulin in the blood is increased, and it has the property to cancel the effect of the supplement. Also note that the supplement causes water retention, which in some cases can mask the loss of body fat. The minimum period in which additional hydration disappears after discontinuation of yohimbine is 3 days.

Possible side effects of yohimbine

Unfortunately, the drug has a number of side effects – 20 to 40 percent of recipients complain of palpitations, trembling limbs, irritability, sleep disturbances, high blood pressure, panic attacks. For this reason, medicines containing higher concentrations of yohimbine must be sold with a prescription. Attention should also be paid to the substance tyramine, which is contained in foods such as cheese, liver and red wine.

These foods should not be consumed while taking yohimbe. Also, when using antidepressants such as Prozac, the food supplement should be taken under medical supervision.
