Motivation , In search of the right motivation

In psychology, there are different methods to achieve effective motivation. In a certain type of people running negative in others – positive motivation.

Under one of the front material I received an interesting comment from a reader who I liked and decided to share now as well illustrate what I want to discuss. Here’s a rundown part of it:

“If a person is overweight and you tell him that this is not good for him, and has such and such consequences, chances are he can start doing something about it. The other option is if a person is not overweight weight and know what are the advantages of this endeavor to maintain this physique.

These are two roads to normal weight. The difference between them is that in the first case something leading to fear of obesity and its consequences, and the second – the desire person feel better!

And that first case was doomed to failure. Because every enterprise in which the driving force is fear, sooner or later izdanva. And it could not be otherwise. With cigarettes is the same story.

The fear of harm from them will hardly make you stop them, more awareness of the benefits of not smoking. If something in a leading venture is a desire, not fear, then man is on the right path.

What I think the issue is that things are not so simple. Surely in the above wording is very true, but I’d like to delve a little together to ensure that always the case.

In the formation of our psyche operate different circumstances and mechanisms and as a result most often stick to one of two types of thinking.

The first type of thinking is oriented. It will adopt a model with common measures and weight as a goal he wants to achieve; for example such a person outside work well.

The second type of thinking is based on avoiding failure for him outside example rarely works successfully because the fear of failure blocks aspirations to change. On the other hand, under certain circumstances, namely the fear health might get this guy to do something for yourself. Or not?

Generally the presence of negative motivation will probably act more effectively to people with a strong motive to avoid failures. For a man with a strong motive to achieve success negative motivation rather will become a strong demotivator. For such a man more effective stimulation is positive because it will strive to achieve what he wants, at any price.

Which of the two principles work for you? What is it that can make you start to build new habits or give up old habits? Fear for your health leads you forward or wish to develop their abilities more?
